Very honored to have some of my artwork featured in the Des Artistes Spring/Summer Collection for 2016!
Des Artistes is an eco-conscious line of conceptual tees created in collaboration with notable and emerging artists. The t-shirt works as a canvas to inspire and explore the human spirit.
My first time curating an exhibition! I feel very fortunate and lucky to have been able to bring international artists to Chicago’s 33 Contemporary Gallery.
The internet has made it possible for global interaction to exist on a massive scale. Through this, we are able to witness cultural occurrences and differentiations that may not have been possible to witness otherwise.
P.O.P (Perceptions of Population) is an avenue of joining a group of artists together and offering a visual consciousness of how our geographical locations directly impact our impressions of the human population. These works on paper, offer a range of thematics from satirical, political, philosophical, spiritual or emotional and represent the locals of the United States, Germany, Austria, Indonesia and Greece.
I don’t visit very many art fairs, as I can find them to be a bit overwhelming. However, I was extremely impressed with Art Cologne. Granted, it was a bit crowded, but it gave me a sense of seriousness and a clearer picture of direction..also a level of comfort that 100% perfection isn’t a very realistic view. The art was very good, but I have to admit, that some of the views started to merge into one another the more time spent there, but there were over 200 booths, so it’s to be expected.
The highlight for me was being able to personally view (for the first time) the work of Silvia Bachli. I didn’t expect to see her work, but was completely emotional when I did. The work exudes power, poise and confidence; which are characteristics I strive for in the creation of my own work. The week before I left for Europe, I received her book Tide in the mail. I spent a day looking through it over and over again; each time becoming more impressed by it. The book is beautiful, but the in person viewing by far blows it out of the water.
